Following the devastating LA wildfires that broke out last Tuesday, Mandy Moore and her family have sought comfort and shelter at the home of fellow celebrity Hilary Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma.
The blaze, which severely impacted their Altadena neighborhood, rendered Moore’s family home uninhabitable, leaving them to grapple with its destruction. Duff and Koma’s generosity extends beyond providing a safe haven.
In a heartfelt show of support, the couple initiated a GoFundMe campaign for Moore’s brother-in-law, Griffin Goldsmith, and his wife, who not only lost their home but are also preparing to welcome their first child in a few weeks.
Griffin, a member of the band Dawes alongside his brother Taylor Goldsmith, shared a heartfelt message of gratitude on Instagram on Tuesday. “All of this is so overwhelming,"
“Our dear friends Matthew Koma and Hilary Duff thought it wise to set up a GoFundMe for us… Not to mention they are currently housing my brother’s family. They’ve taken care of my entire family from the moment this began. I will never be able to thank them adequately. This is the kindest act any human could do for another. They are the most beautiful, selfless people we’ve ever known." he continued.
The fundraising effort swiftly gained traction, amassing an impressive $205,000. Griffin conveyed his heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support, stating, "I’ve never been so moved in my life. We are completely blown away. I can’t talk or think about it without crying."

Moore has used her social media platforms to shed light on the devastation wrought by the Eaton Fire in Altadena. Sharing photos and a video of the scorched remains of her neighborhood, she wrote, "We lost our garage and back house. Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone. My in-laws. My brother and sister-in-law- 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends. Feeling weird survivor’s guilt. We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support."
The wildfires raging across Southern California have caused widespread destruction, with the Eaton Fire decimating homes in Altadena and Pasadena. By Tuesday morning, officials reported the Palisades Fire was 17% contained, while the Eaton Fire had reached 35% containment. Tragically, at least 24 lives have been lost as the fires continue to pose threats. A new blaze, the Auto Fire in Ventura, has already scorched over 50 acres, adding to the region’s challenges. Emergency crews are working tirelessly to combat the flames, but shifting winds and dry conditions have made containment efforts increasingly difficult.
