Renowned Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who is best known for pulling off his own incredible stunts, has disclosed that the iconic Tom & Jerry cartoon served as a surprising inspiration for his action-packed scenes.

Known as the "Khiladi" of Indian cinema, Akshay has established a strong reputation for his audacious performances in films like Blue, Holiday, and the renowned Khiladi series. But it turns out that slapstick animation may have contributed more to his high-octane moves than conventional stunt training.

In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Akshay shared that many of his most memorable stunts were heavily influenced by the antics of the famous animated duo.

“Do you know where I draw all this inspiration from? All the stunts I’ve done? You won’t believe it, from Tom & Jerry,” he confessed. “I love watching Tom & Jerry, I think it's the most violent show. It's very violent, even though it's apparently made for kids. Each episode is 10 or 12 minutes long and packed with action. I’ve taken so much inspiration from it.”

The actor went on to reference specific moments from the show that found their way into his films.
“I remember Tom coming down from a helicopter, hanging and picking up Jerry – I did that in Sabse Bada Khiladi. Then Tom hanging from a plane – I recreated that in Khiladi 420. There’s another scene where Tom puts a hammock under a helicopter and both he and Jerry sit down and have a glass of wine – I did that in Khatron Ke Khiladi.”

Adding a dose of his trademark wit, Akshay joked about how the cartoon’s violence is often overlooked:
“People watch it thinking it’s humorous, but it’s not. In one episode, Tom breaks the whole house with a bat. It’s so violent. Please understand – it’s a violent show you’re showing your kids!”

The movie will be released on June 27. The actor is also working on upcoming projects like Priyadarshan's Welcome to the Jungle and Bhooth Bangla, which co-stars Paresh Rawal and Wamiqa Gabbi.
