Vidaamuyarchi gets leaked hours after releasing in theatres

Ajith Kumar’s highly anticipated action thriller, Vidaamuyarchi, has fallen prey to online piracy just hours after its official release on February 6, 2025.

The film, which debuted on the big screen, is already being illegally distributed across various torrent sites and streaming platforms, putting its box-office success at risk. This swift leak has caused significant frustration among the filmmakers, distributors, and dedicated fans of the movie.

According to reports, Vidaamuyarchi has been uploaded to several illegal platforms, including Filmyzilla, Movierulez, Telegram, and Tamilrockerz. The film is being circulated in multiple formats, including 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, 240p, and HD versions, further exacerbating the piracy issue.

Vidaamuyarchi marks Ajith Kumar's highly anticipated return to the big screen after a two-year hiatus. The action-packed thriller also features a talented cast including Arjun Sarja, Trisha, Regina Cassandra, Arav, and Vijay Ramya, with music composed by the renowned Anirudh Ravichander.

Industry tracker Sacnilk has estimated the first-day advance sales of the film to be approximately ₹19.28 crore, highlighting the significant buzz surrounding its release.

Recently, a growing number of Bollywood and South Indian films like Devara, Game Changer and more have fallen victim to online piracy, with numerous titles being leaked on various illegal streaming platforms.

This trend has raised significant concerns among filmmakers, distributors, and fans, as these leaks severely impact box office performance and the overall success of the films.

Because of the pirated copy, Game Changer was also streamed on one of the local news channels.

Experts caution that pirated copies of films cause significant financial losses to production teams and diminish the motivation for filmmakers to create high-quality content. While some may view piracy as a way to watch films for free, there are important reasons to avoid supporting it. Watching pirated content devalues the effort of countless individuals involved in the making of a film, from actors and directors to the crew behind the scenes. Additionally, it damages the overall film industry, affecting future projects and the livelihood of those working within it.

Under the Copyright Act of 1957, piracy is classified as a criminal offence, making it highly advisable not to watch films on illegal platforms. In addition to legal consequences, there are numerous other risks associated with piracy. These include exposure to malware, legal issues, unexpected financial repercussions, poor-quality content, and potential encounters with unsafe or inappropriate material. Engaging in piracy not only harms the film industry but also puts individuals at risk in several ways.
