Uttar Pradesh 2024 Lok Sabha Polls: The candidates who have filed their nominations for the Pratapgarh seat are sitting MP and BJP candidate for the Pratapgarh seat Sangam Lal Gupta, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Prathamesh Mishra, Devi Prasad from the Janshanti Party, Ramsiddh Yadav from the Manavtawadi Samaj Party, Mahesh Kumar Prajapati from the Samajdar Party, and independent candidate Harikesh Bahadur Pandey.

The Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh has consistently held a prominent position in the country's political landscape. As per the 2011 census, the total population of the Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency is close to 2.3 million. This constituency is composed of five legislative assembly seats: Rampur Khas, Vishwanath Ganj, Pratapgarh, Patti, and Raniganj.

Pratapgarh is situated on the Allahabad-Faizabad main road, approximately 39 km away from Sultanpur and 61 km from Allahabad. Established in the year 1858, it stands as one of the older districts of Uttar Pradesh, boasting a rich historical heritage.

Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency, one among the 80 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, votes on 25 May, during Phase 6 of the General Elections.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sangam Lal Gupta, representing the BJP, secured victory as the winning candidate from the Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency. Gupta obtained a total of 436,291 votes. Meanwhile, his closest competitor, Ashok Tripathi of the BSP, garnered 318,539 votes. Tripathi faced defeat with a margin of 117,752 votes. Indian National Congress’s Rajkumari Ratna Singh came third with 77,096 votes.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the voter turnout for the Pratapgarh parliamentary seat was recorded at 52.12%. Apna Dal's Kunwar Haribansh Singh emerged victorious, defeating BSP's Asif Nizamuddin Siddiqui by a margin of 168,222 votes.
