Instead, it fielded popular Bengali actors Rachana Banerjee and June Maliah. Shatrughan Sinha, who won a by-election in 2021, will contest from Asansol. The announcement ends speculation about seat-sharing with the Congress, as TMC announced candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal
