The Congress party has gained significant momentum after a victory in the recent Assembly elections, positioning itself as the leading contender against the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). With Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the helm, the party has impressively narrowed the vote share gap to just 2%, which marks a robust gain of 14 percentage points from the 2018 Assembly elections. This shift has brought about a noticeable change in the electorate's perception of governance and administration.

Although the party's welfare promises, such as providing 200 units of free electricity, are on hold due to election protocols, the public is reluctant to wait for their fulfilment, indicating trust in Congress's progressive agenda. The recent high-profile defections from the BRS to Congress, including prominent figures such as Kadiyam Srihari and Rajya Sabha member K. Keshava Rao, suggest an emerging political shift.

Former BRS MLA Danam Nagendra has joined Congress and is running for Secunderabad, where he will challenge BJP Union Minister G Kishen Reddy. G Ranjith Reddy, the BRS's former representative for Chevelle, is now running for re-election from the same constituency under the Congress banner. Dr Kadiyam Kavya, daughter of Kadiyam Srihari, has abandoned her BRS ticket amid accusations of corruption and lack of internal unity and is now representing Congress for the same seat. In a candid and now-viral letter, Dr Kavya expressed her disillusionment with the BRS, urging for forgiveness from party chief KCR and cadres as she steps away from the electoral battle to uphold her principles.

Despite the challenges, the Congress party remains determined to win most seats under BRS control. However, candidate selection in pivotal constituencies like Karimnagar, Hyderabad, and Khammam still needs to improve, revealing the competitive nature of the upcoming election.
