Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sambit Patra is set to win against Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Arup Mohan Patnaik in Puri Lok Sabha constituency of Odisha as per latest trends from the election commission. He is currently ahead of BJD's Patnaik by over 1 lakh votes.
According to latest trends from the Election Commission, BJP's national spokesperson Patra has taken an insurmountable lead of 1,04,402 votes against BJD's Patnaik and is on the course of his maiden victory. Earlier in 2019, Patra had lost Puri Lok Sabha election to BJD's Pinaki Misra.
Patra is also well ahead of Indian National Congress's Jayanarayan Pattanayak by a margin of 6,02,417 votes.

About Puri constituency
In 2019, BJD won the Puri Lok Sabha seat with its candidate Pinaki Misra defeating BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra.
Puri is one of the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Odisha. It is a General Category parliament seat falling under the coastal region of Odisha.
The Puri Lok Sabha constituency has seven Assembly segments under it – Puri, Pipli, Satyabadi, Brahmagiri, Chilka, Ranpur and Nayagarh.
In 2019, the parliamentary seat has predominantly witnessed a fierce contest between the BJD’s Pinaki Misra and BJP’s Sambit Patra. BJD’s Pinaki Misra had defeated BJP’s Sambit Patra by 11714 votes. Misra had polled 5,38,321 (47.40%) votes while votes polled for BJP’s Patra stood at 5,26,607 (46.37%).
Misra had won the seat four times– first in 1996 on an INC ticket. He had held the seat for the BJD consecutively from 2009 to 2019.
