Earlier Pakistan used to have bombs in its hand, now it is moving around with a begging bowl, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated.
PM Modi took the "begging bowl" dig at neighbouring Pakistan while addressing a rally in Haryana’s Ambala on May 18. He also noted that robust leadership makes enemies think twice before challenging India.
Referring to bailout packages from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), PM Modi said, "Pakistan had been troubling India for 70 years, it had bombs in its hands. Today it has 'bheekh ka katora' (begging bowl) in its hands".
He further noted, "When there is a 'dhakad' government, enemies tremble".
PM Modi asserted that it was his 'dhakad' government that abrogated Article 370, paving the way for Jammu and Kashmir to move ahead on the path of development.
In 2019, the BJP-led government abrogated the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution that had bestowed special rights on Jammu and Kashmir. The move led to the bifurcation of the erstwhile state into Union territories.
The Prime Minister also expressed confidence in his party’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections and asserted that the Congress, the INDI alliance, and "all their friends have been destroyed after four phases of elections."
“Only 17 days remain to go for 4th June. After four phases of elections, the Congress and INDI alliance and all their friends, parties have been completely destroyed,” he said.
PM Modi also said patriotism runs in the veins of Haryana, adding that the "state understands anti-national forces. Therefore, each house in Haryana is saying -- phir ek baar," to which the crowd responded, "Modi sarkar."
