Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 14 said that he considers the 140 crore Indians his God and that he has been sent by the almighty to serve the countrymen.
"God has created me for a purpose. I am a devotee (bhakt) but I can't see the almighty which is why I consider the 140 crore Indians my God," he told News18 in an exclusive interview.
When asked how he works round the clock and never gets tired, the Prime Minister said it's God-given. "Earlier I thought it's biological but I have come to realize that the energy comes from God. I have been sent by the almighty to fulfil the dreams of the countrymen and serve them," he added.
During the interview, the PM also exuded confidence in the BJP-led NDA winning the ongoing Lok Sabha elections as "Modi is not fighting this election but 140 crore people of India are".

When asked why he's so confident of the win, PM Modi said, "Firstly, the word nervousness is not in my dictionary. Secondly, I have done jeevan tapasya. Every minute, I have worked hard for the country. I have worked day and night for people because I know they deserve better".
He claimed that injustice has been done to the people of India for 60-70 years. "When someone wipes their tears, builds toilets for them, they can't forget it. During the Covid-19 pandemic, our government ensured that nobody went to bed hungry. There was a government which had said there were food grains in warehouses, but they couldn’t distribute it. And there is our government which is determined to not let any kitchen fire go cold," the Prime Minister added.
