Don't understand why Congress isn't announcing candidates for Amethi, Raebareli: BJP MLA Aditi Singh

Aditi also expressed that Congress is probably very scared and confused because this is a state where they are practically wiped out.

As the third phase of Lok Sabha Elections is all set to occur on May 7, Congress is yet to announce the candidates for the Amethi and Raebareli seats, leading to several speculations about the same.

BJP's Raebareli MLA Aditi Singh spoke to News18 and said, "Congress is scared, don't know if they will contest from Raebareli or not."

“There is a lot of anger on the ground in both Amethi and Raebareli vis-a-vis the fact that they haven’t come to visit or necessarily cared about the constituencies after winning the seats in 2019,” she added.

She further said that there is a lot of anger from the people towards them for the same.

“I am not even sure if they will contest from here(Raebareli) or if it is going to be some dummy candidate from their end. Only time will tell,” she added.

When asked about whether Congress will get votes if Priyanka Gandhi contests from Raebareli, Aditi said, “In 2022, 4 out of 5 seats went to the Samajwadi party, my seat went to BJP, and on most seats, Congress party could not even save their deposits. These are all telling trends. Sonia Gandhi’s margin was the lowest as it has even been since she started contesting from Raebareli in the last Lok Sabha elections.”

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said at a press conference in Guwahati on April 27 that the names of party candidates for Uttar Pradesh's famous Amethi and Rae Bareli seats would be announced in a "few days".
