Omar Abdullah sworn in as J&K Chief Minister; Congress stays out of government

Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, marking his second term and the region's first elected government since the abrogation of Article 370. Surender Choudhary was appointed deputy chief minister to promote inclusivity. Congress, led by Tariq Hameed Karra, chose not to join the ministry, citing its demand for the restoration of statehood. Prominent INDIA bloc leaders attended the ceremony, showcasing political support. Omar Abdullah dismissed rumours of a rift with Congress, stating discussions over ministerial roles are ongoing. The NC-Congress alliance won 48 seats in the recent elections.
