Bihar elections: Red Fort blast puts state on high alert ahead of phase 2 voting on November 11

The blast has put several states and cities on alert, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Haryana and Chandigarh.

In a major attack on national capital, Delhi was rocked on November 10 after a high-intensity blast ripped through a car parked near the Red Fort area, causing multiple deaths and injuries.

The blast has put several states and cities on alert, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Haryana and Chandigarh.

Union home minister Amit Shah said a thorough investigation will be carried out soon and all possibilities will be explored. The result of the investigation will soon be presented to the people, he said. Moreover, the minister is soon expected to arrive at the blast site, following a visit to LNJP hospital were several injured and dead have been admitted.

Bihar on alert ahead of elections

Assembly elections are underway in the state with the first phase of voting completed on November  6, recording a 65 percent voting turnout. The second phase of voting is set to take place on November 11. The blast could have an impact on the election outcome as well as the safety of the voters. Officials said Bihar is on high alert following the blast in Delhi with several teams on alert across the state.

Alert in other states

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed state police officials to be on alert. Similar, directions have been issued in other states.

Kerala police chief Ravada Azad Chandrasekhar has directed the police to strengthen security across the state. Security has been tightened across Chandigarh after a blast in Delhi. Police are on high alert.

An alert has also been issued in Haryana. The government has issued instructions to all district magistrates.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, after receiving information about the incident from Director General of Police Rajiv Krishna, has given instructions to keep the entire police force in Uttar Pradesh on high alert and ensure intensive checking and security arrangements.
