The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has announced Sankranti holidays for all Intermediate colleges in the state. The holidays will begin on Saturday, 11 January, and continue until Thursday, 16 January. All colleges are scheduled to reopen on Friday, 17 January.
The holiday schedule applies to government, private, aided, unaided, residential, social welfare, tribal welfare, model schools, BC welfare, junior colleges, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and composite degree colleges offering the two-year Intermediate course.
In its announcement, the Board has strictly instructed the principals and management of private junior colleges to adhere to the holiday period and refrain from conducting any classes during this time. Institutions found violating the instructions will face serious consequences, including possible disaffiliation, the Secretary of the Board warned.
This holiday schedule aligns with the state government’s decision to grant Sankranti holidays to schools from 11 to 16 January. The break allows students and staff to celebrate the harvest festival, which holds cultural significance across Telangana, with their families.
The Board has urged college authorities to ensure compliance with the orders and facilitate a smooth resumption of classes after the holiday period.
