The half-yearly examinations for government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu are scheduled to commence on Monday, December 16th, 2024. However, due to the recent floods, the state government has announced adjustments to the exam schedule for affected areas.
In a press conference, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh stated that if the situation in flood-affected areas does not improve by December 9th, the half-yearly exams in those regions will be postponed to the first week of January 2025. The decision on the exact dates will be made by the respective school headmasters.
Minister Mahesh emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that students in flood-affected areas are not disadvantaged academically. By postponing the exams, the government aims to provide adequate time for students to recover from the impact of the floods and prepare for their assessments.
For schools that are not affected by the floods, the half-yearly examinations will proceed as planned, starting on December 16th.
