Chandigarh: Speeding BMW car rams into bike, Swiggy delivery executive dies on spot

When the police reached the address linked to the car, they found that it had already been sold to another person.

A speeding BMW car rammed into a motorcycle between sectors 34 and 35 in Chandigarh on Monday night, killing a Swiggy delivery executive on the spot.

The impact from the accident was so severe that the delivery man flung several metres away and his head struck the road, leading to fatal injuries, according to a report by The Indian Express.

The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Khushmeet Rawat. He was a native of UP's Hardoi district.

The accident occurred around 2 am when the victim was heading towards Sector 35 to deliver food orders. At a traffic signal. a speeding BMW car hit his bike from behind. The force of the collision threw him onto the road, leading to his death.

On Tuesday, after a postmortem examination, the body was handed over to his family members.

An eyewitness has provided the registration number of the BMW car to the police. However, when the police reached the address linked to the car, they found that it had already been sold to another person. Police are now scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the vehicle and identify the accused driver, according to the Indian Express.

A case has been registered against the BMW driver at Sector 36 police station. Further investigation is underway.
