The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) have embraced the recent trend of creating 'ghibli' images, using the Studio Ghibli art style in a post on X (formerly Twitter) to raise awareness about the dangers of reckless wheeling on city roads.

The traffic police’s social media accounts on Sunday shared an AI-generated video, warning that wheeling is risky even in a Ghibli-inspired world.

Ghibli art typically refers to AI-generated images inspired by the art style of Studio Ghibli, the renowned Japanese animation studio known for films like Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke.

"Even in the whimsical world of Ghibli, wheeling is no fairytale—it’s dangerous and punishable. For your safety and the safety of others, follow traffic rules. Ride responsibly,” the post read which included an animated clip, featuring a rider performing a wheelie. Alongside the animation, the post included image of a rider being arrested for performing wheelie on Bengaluru’s busy streets.

The post has garnered attention from the netizens for its creativity and the alarming message it gives. While many applauded the police for participating in viral trends, some highlighted more serious traffic violations. One user commented, "Welcome to the Ghibli world." However, others expressed concerns about enforcement gaps, questioning why stricter actions aren’t being taken against those who drive the wrong way or repeatedly break traffic laws.

A user commented, “Please heavily fine people who do it with absolute contempt to the law makers & those who uphold it!”, while other said, “What about people who openly flout the law & ride/drive against the legally created flow of traffic? Nowadays, when merging into a one way lane where traffic flows as designed, I need to approach extra carefully to ensure I don’t cause an accident to someone who is breaking it.”
