The Tesla Model Y has finally arrived in India, ending years of speculation and, obviously, the wait! Since it has taken the completely built-up (CBU) route, the price is on the relatively higher side, courtesy of the import duties. The electric car is being offered in two rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variants. Let us have a closer look at both of them with a focus on the differences.

The Model Y has entered the Indian market in the standard RWD trim and the Long Range RWD trim.

Model Y RWD vs Model Y Long Range RWD: Price

While the RWD trim is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh, the top-spec Long Range RWD trim is available for Rs 67.89 lakh. Both are ex-showroom prices.

Model Y RWD vs Model Y Long Range RWD: Range

For an electric vehicle (EV), range is always the most important aspect. The same is the case with the Model Y.

The RWD trim has a claimed range of 500 km (WLTP) on a single full charge. In comparison, the Long Range RWD trim is good for 622 km (WLTP) with the battery completely juiced up.

Model Y RWD vs Model Y Long Range RWD: Acceleration

The 0-100 kmph acceleration time is claimed to be 5.9 seconds for the RWD version and 5.6 seconds for the Long Range RWD version.

Model Y RWD vs Model Y Long Range RWD: Charging Time

In merely 15 minutes, the RWD trim can be fast-charged for an additional range of up to 238 km. In similar time, the Long Range RWD trim can be charged to add up to 267 km.
