Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tesla will open its second showroom in India, located in New Delhi's Aerocity, on August 11.
According to the company's official invitation, the new Tesla Experience Centre, Aerocity, will be based in the Worldmark 3 building.
Tesla opened its maiden India showroom in Mumbai on July 15. The 4,000 sq ft Mumbai facility is present in the Maker Maxity mall at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
The company has introduced only the Model Y rear-wheel-drive (RWD) electric SUV in the Indian market. However, its availability is currently restricted to registrations in Delhi, Gurugram, and Mumbai.
The entry-level standard RWD variant of the Model Y is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom). For buyers looking for an extended range, the Long Range RWD version is available at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for both variants are set to commence in the third quarter of 2025.
Tesla's Model Y comes at a significant premium in India compared to its pricing in international markets. This price hike is mainly attributed to the substantial import duties levied on completely built-up (CBU) vehicles, nearly doubling the SUV's cost when compared to its global price tags.
The Model Y standard RWD offers an impressive driving range, with the company claiming it can travel up to 500km on a single full charge. The Long Range RWD model further improves on this, with an estimated range of 622km, making it one of the longest-range electric SUVs currently available in India.
Performance figures for the Model Y also stand out. The standard RWD can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range RWD variant completes the sprint in 5.6 seconds. Both versions have a top speed of 201kmph.
Compatible with fast charging, the Model Y takes only 15 minutes to add a range of up to 238 km for the RWD trim and 267 km for the Long Range RWD trim.
Tesla has adopted a minimalist approach for the Model Y's design, aiming to enhance aerodynamics, improve efficiency, and maximise driving range.
Despite its simplicity, the electric SUV features pronounced curves and sharp lines that lend it a sporty appeal. The lighting system is fully LED. The front and rear of the car have LED lightbars. The wheels themselves have a futuristic look, reflecting the Model Y's electric nature. Additionally, the vehicle is fitted with eight external cameras to support advanced driving functions.
Given its premium pricing, the Model Y comes packed with high-end features. The interior combines aluminium trims with upscale fabrics, creating a luxurious environment. It boasts a 15.4-inch touchscreen display at the front and an 8-inch screen for rear passengers.
The front seats are powered and ventilated, while the second row offers power folding, heating, and two-way adjustments. The ambient lighting covers both the footwells and door pockets, and a nine-speaker sound system further enriches the cabin.
Tesla's latest suspension system is designed to minimise cabin noise in the Model Y, and the vehicle uses updated hardware for enhanced connectivity. The windows and the panoramic roof use laminated glass.
Buyers can choose from six exterior shades -- Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Quicksilver, and Ultra Red. Of these, only Stealth Grey is offered as a standard finish, while the remaining colours require an additional payment, which can be up to Rs 1.85 lakh.
