Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles' Nexon compact SUV was again the largest-selling car in India in November, driving past all the competition from rival carmakers like Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra.
At 22,434 units in November, the Nexon emerged as the best-selling car in India. It completed a hat trick as it was the top-seller in October (22,083 units) as well as September (22,573 units).
Interestingly, the Nexon has clocked sales of over 22,000 units in each of the previous three months, pointing towards a sustained demand in the highly competitive Indian car market, and more so, the sub-4 metre space, which is historically dominated by Maruti Suzuki cars.
The Tata Nexon has been one of Tata's most dependable volume drivers. It was India's best-selling SUV for three successive financial years, recording 1.24 lakh units in FY22, 1.72 lakh units in FY23 and 1.71 lakh units in FY24. Although FY25 saw a slight moderation to 1.63 lakh units, the Nexon remains strong. In FY26 year-to-date, it has already crossed 1.30 lakh units.
A major catalyst behind the model's recent surge has been the GST 2.0 revision, which lowered Nexon prices by up to Rs 1.55 lakh. This price correction significantly enhanced its competitiveness across multiple SUV and hatchback segments. Tata is also offering additional consumer schemes. With prices starting at Rs 7.32 lakh (ex-showroom), the Nexon is now attracting customers from both below and above its traditional segment.
The Nexon's diverse powertrain line-up remains a key strength. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is available with multiple gearbox choices, alongside a petrol-CNG variant and a 1.5-litre diesel offered with manual and automatic transmissions. Tata's twin-cylinder CNG technology, which frees up boot space, is aimed at buyers focussed on running costs.
The Nexon.ev adds a strong electric option to the range. The 45kWh version delivers 350-375km of real-world driving range, while the smaller 30kWh variant offers around 210-230km.
Safety continues to play a major role in the Nexon's appeal. Both the ICE and electric versions have scored five stars in Bharat NCAP tests. Tata now has a broad five-star-rated lineup, including the Altroz, Punch.ev, Curvv, Curvv.ev, Harrier, Harrier.ev and Safari.
The Nexon's features list includes LED headlamps, ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital display cluster, connected features, wireless charging and a voice-enabled sunroof. Safety equipment includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, ESP, TPMS, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and cornering fog lamps.
In the compact SUV space, the Tata Nexon competes with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet and Skoda Kylaq. With its revised pricing, five-star safety ratings, wide fuel choices and the recent GST-led advantage, the Nexon has maintained market leadership since September.
