New BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe launch on July 17, pre-bookings open now

The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe gets only a petrol engine option at present.

BMW India will launch the second-generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in the country on July 17. Bookings for the entry-level BMW sedan have opened at the carmaker's dealerships and online. It is being locally produced at the BMW Group plant in Chennai.

BMW is offering the new 2 Series Gran Coupe in two variants -- 2 Series Gran Coupe 218 M Sport and 2 Series Gran Coupe 218 M Sport Pro. The booking amount is Rs 1,50,000.

To start with, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe only gets a gasoline powertrain. There is a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine, generating 156 hp of maximum power and 230 Nm of peak torque. The engine is clubbed with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The front fascia of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe is characterised by a slim grille, flanked by LED headlights. The rear has LED taillights. The sloping roofline adds sportiness to the vehicle. The new 18-inch wheels look sporty. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned.

The car has four exterior colour options -- Brooklyn Grey Metallic, M Portimao Blue Metallic, Alpine White and Black Sapphire.

The interior of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe has been redesigned and gets BMW widescreen curved display that integrates the touchscreen infotainment system and the instrument panel. All the digital services in the car are based on the latest BMW Operating System 9.

Other notable features include dual-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger, Parking Assistant Plus (automatic parking), and a panoramic sunroof.

The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will take on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan, which starts at Rs 46,05,000 (ex-showroom).
