Escorts Kubota has launched the new Kubota MU4201 tractor, marking the Kubota brand's entry into the 41-44hp segment in India. Alongside, the company has upgraded its MU4501 and MU5502 models.
The MU4201 is positioned to serve cultivation and haulage requirements, among others. It is compatible with implements such as rotavators and disc harrows. However, the company did not close its price.
Developed by Japanese engineers, the MU4201 brings several premium features typically available in higher-capacity models, according to Escorts Kubota. These include a flat deck, suspended pedals, balancer shaft, synchromesh transmission, and dual clutch. The company stated that these additions will provide farmers with greater efficiency and ease of operation.
In addition to the new launch, Escorts Kubota has rolled out upgraded versions of the MU4501 and the MU5502 tractors. Both tractors now feature a new 'Pompa Lift' system, based on Japanese lift technology. The system enables lifting capacities between 1,640kg and 2,100kg, with a category-leading lift height of 455mm.
The 41-50hp category accounts for nearly 60-64% of India's domestic tractor market, according to Escorts Kubota. With the MU4201 and upgraded models, the company aims to strengthen its presence in this high-demand segment.
Escorts Kubota said the new tractor and updated models will be introduced nationwide, with a particular focus on markets such as Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana. These regions are key contributors to tractor sales in India.
The company added that the MU4201 is targeted at farmers upgrading from 35hp tractors to higher-powered models, offering them advanced features at competitive pricing. The upgraded MU4501 and MU5502 models are expected to appeal to farmers requiring stronger hydraulic performance for multiple applications.
Escorts Kubota currently operates under multiple brands, including Farmtrac and Powertrac, and is expanding its Kubota line to tap into segments with strong demand. The company said the new launches complement its existing product range and align with its strategy to increase market share in India’s core tractor categories.
