BMW Motorrad has launched the new BMW M 1000 R supersport roadster in India at a starting price of Rs 33.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is being offered in the country as a completely built-up unit (CBU), with pre-orders open across authorised BMW Motorrad dealerships. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin from May 2026.

The M 1000 R is part of BMW's high-performance M range and is positioned as a roadster derived from the brand's RR superbike platform. It features aggressive styling with a compact and lightweight design, highlighted by new dual-flow LED headlights inspired by the RR models and aerodynamic winglets.

The motorcycle is available in multiple paint options, including Light White non-metallic/M Motorsport and White Aluminium metallic matt. The optional M Competition Package also adds the Blackstorm metallic/M Motorsport colour scheme along with a range of performance-oriented components.

Powering the M 1000 R is a 999cc water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine derived from the RR superbike. The engine produces 210hp of max power at 13,750rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 11,100rpm. BMW claims the motorcycle can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 280kmph.

The engine uses BMW's ShiftCam technology to optimise torque delivery across low and mid-range speeds while maintaining high peak output. Other mechanical components include titanium valves, optimised camshafts and revised intake funnels designed to improve airflow at higher engine speeds.

In terms of riding dynamics, the M 1000 R is equipped with multiple riding modes including Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro 1-3. The motorcycle also features the latest generation Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with a six-axis sensor system, wheelie control, launch control and a pit-lane limiter for track riding.

Aerodynamic winglets integrated into the front bodywork increase front-wheel load at high speeds, adding up to 11kg of additional downforce at 220kmph. The motorcycle also features M carbon wheels in the M Competition Package along with integrated brake ducts in the front mudguards designed to improve airflow around the braking system.

The bike comes equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster with integrated connectivity and support for M GPS Datalogger and Laptrigger functions. Other features include cruise control, heated grips, adaptive turning lights, USB charging port, lightweight battery and LED lighting units.

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels with a 120/70 front tyre and a 200/55 rear tyre, while the wheelbase measures 1,455mm. The seat height stands at 830mm and the bike has an unladen weight of 199kg with a 16.5-litre fuel tank.

BMW Motorrad is also offering the motorcycle with optional equipment such as carbon fibre components, M billet footrest system, GPS lap trigger and other track-oriented accessories as part of the M Competition Package.

The launch further expands BMW Motorrad's premium performance motorcycle portfolio in India, which already includes models such as the S 1000 RR and other litre-class superbikes in the country.
