Hyundai Motor India will launch the new-generation Hyundai Venue in the country on November 4, with a major update coming to its diesel powertrain. For the first time, the compact SUV's 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine will be offered with a six-speed automatic transmission, expanding its appeal among customers who prefer diesel automatics.

The addition of the automatic gearbox marks a key change in the Venue's lineup. The earlier version of the diesel variant was available only with a manual transmission. Hyundai said the new automatic option has been tailored to meet the rising customer demand for diesel automatics.

The U2 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 85kW (116PS) of maximum power and 250Nm of peak torque. The engine is also available with a six-speed manual transmission. Hyundai claims the diesel powertrain delivers strong performance with stellar fuel efficiency, balancing power and economy for both urban and highway use.

Alongside the diesel, the new Hyundai Venue will continue to be offered with two petrol engines. The 1.2-litre Kappa MPi petrol engine delivers 61kW (83PS) and 114.7Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.0-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol engine generates 88.3kW (120PS) and 172Nm, and is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

The 2025 Hyundai Venue will also feature upgraded drive and traction controls. Hyundai said the SUV is equipped with three drive modes -- Eco, Normal, and Sport -- allowing drivers to adjust performance based on preference or road conditions. In addition, traction control modes (Sand, Mud and Snow) enhance stability and grip across varying terrains.

To complement these systems, the model also gets paddle shifters, offering a sportier driving experience and quicker manual control over gear shifts.

Bookings for the Hyundai Venue 2025 are open at all Hyundai dealerships and online via the company's Click to Buy platform, with a token amount of Rs 25,000.

We expect the 2025 Hyundai Venue price to start at around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). Among the new Hyundai Venue rivals will be the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
