In a clear reaffirmation of India-US counter-terrorism partnership, New Delhi has welcomed the US State Department’s move to designate The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist.
The Indian Embassy in the USA described this decision as a strong example of collaborative efforts between the two nations to combat terrorism.
"Appreciate the Department of State for listing The Resistance Front (TRF) as a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist. TRF is a proxy of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and claimed responsibility for the April 22 terror attack on civilians in Pahalgam," Indian Embassy in US posted X.

Designated as a front for Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, The Resistance Front (TRF) has been actively involved in planning and executing terror attacks, including the deadly April 22, 2025, assault in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives - one of the most severe attacks in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The US Department of State has now formally listed TRF as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT).
The group has also been implicated in multiple assaults targeting Indian security forces, including several incidents in 2024.
The designation reflects a unified international resolve to combat terrorism, with India and the United States reiterating their joint commitment to dismantle terror networks and uphold regional stability.
