Two students from Hyderabad, India, were killed in a car accident in the United Kingdom on Monday, when they were returning after participating in Ganesh Visarjan celebrations.
The accident occurred when a vehicle they were travelling in collided with another -- also occupied by students -- on the A130 Dual Carriageway at the Rayleigh Spur roundabout, according to media reports.
A total of nine students were injured in the incident. Out of them, Chaitanya Tarre (23) died on the spot while Rishiteja Rapolu (21) succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Both the students hailed from Hyderabad.
Five students were admitted to the Royal London Hospital following the crash. Among them, Sai Goutham Ravulla (30) is on ventilation, while Nuthan Thatikayala has been left partially paralysed, according to a report by NDTV.
The other injured students, Yuva Teja Reddy Gurram, Vamshi Golla, and Venkata Sumanth Pentyala, are also undergoing treatment.
Essex police said in a statement, "We received a call about a collision involving two vehicles at the Rayleigh Spur roundabout shortly after 4.15 am. The drivers of the two vehicles have both been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They are currently in custody."
