US President Donald Trump said he believes Hamas is ready for a “lasting peace” and called on Israel to immediately halt its bombing of Gaza to facilitate the safe release of hostages.
“Based on the Statement just issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting PEACE. Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly! Right now, it’s far too dangerous to do that. We are already in discussions on the details to be worked out. This is not about Gaza alone, this is about long sought PEACE in the Middle East,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump also shared the official statement issued by Hamas. The official statement mentions that, "Hamas appreciates the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as the efforts of US. President Donald Trump, calling for end to the on the Gaza Strip, the exchange of prisoners, the immediate entry of aid, the rejection of the occupation of the Strip, and the rejection of the displacement of our Palestinian people from it."
Hamas stated that it is prepared to release all Israeli hostages, alive or dead, under Trump’s Gaza peace proposal, aiming to end Israel’s war on Gaza and secure a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave.
The Palestinian group said it accepted certain elements of the plan, including relinquishing power and releasing the remaining hostages, while other aspects require further consultations among Palestinians.
