Nicholas Singh, listed among Canada’s 25 most wanted criminals, has been arrested in Toronto after being spotted inside a vehicle. The 24-year-old Indian-origin offender had been unlawfully at large for more than a year while serving a five-year, five-month and 10-day sentence for robbery and firearm-related offences. Toronto Police confirmed his arrest, noting that a Canada-wide warrant had been issued for breaching his parole.

According to the Times of India report, Toronto Police said Singh was located inside a vehicle and taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered a firearm, an extended magazine and ammunition from the vehicle. The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad, which had been tracking his case due to his high-risk status, received a tip on Friday regarding a suspicious vehicle. Upon investigating, they found Singh inside.

Singh ranked number 15 on the BOLO (Be On the Lookout) programme’s list of Canada’s 25 most wanted fugitives.

Fresh Charges Filed

Authorities have now brought additional charges against Singh, including:

Possess restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate

Possess firearm other than restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence

Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device knowing no authority

Occupy motor vehicle with firearm

Possess loaded regulated firearm

Possess firearm with altered serial number

The current BOLO list also features two other Indian-origin suspects: 26-year-old Gurkirat Singh, sought by Delta Police over an alleged 2024 sexual assault case; and Dharam Singh Dhaliwal, wanted in connection with the 2022 killing of another Indian-origin individual, Pawanpreet Kaur, who was shot multiple times at her workplace, a petrol station.
