A top Iranian general has claimed that Pakistan will drop nuclear bombs on Israel if Jerusalem takes a similar route against Tehran amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) general and Iranian National Security Council member Mohsen Rezaei claimed that Pakistan has personally conveyed to Iran that it will take nuclear action against Israel in case it comes to an atomic war.
“Pakistan has told us that if Israel uses nuclear missiles, we will also attack it with nuclear weapons," Rezaei was quoted as saying by Turkiye Today.
Later, Pakistan’s defence minister Khawaja Asif rejected the statement, saying that Islamabad has not made any such remarks.
Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had expressed complete solidarity with Iran after Israel launched pre-emptive strikes on the country's nuclear facilities, leading to an exchange of missiles and airstrikes.
While Pakistani leaders have expressed support for Iran, they have issued no statement regarding any nuclear action as claimed by Rezaei.

According to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), Israel and Pakistan are among the nine countries that currently possess nuclear weapons.
During the interview, Rezaei further urged all Muslim nations to unite against Israel.
“Israel has targeted Iran, Yemen, and Palestine. If Muslim nations don’t unite now, each will face the same fate," he said.
Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif had made a similar appeal following the Israel attack last week.
“In this time of trial, we stand by Iran in every way. We will protect Iranian interests. Iranians are our brothers, and their grief and pain are shared ... If we remain silent and disunited today, then everyone will be targeted eventually,” he said.
Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran on Friday morning that wiped out the top echelon of Iran's military command and damaged its nuclear sites, and says the campaign will continue to escalate in coming days.
Iran vowed to "open the gates of hell" in retaliation in what has emerged as the biggest ever confrontation between the longstanding enemies. Both sides have been exchanging missiles and drones over the last few days.
