Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi residence 'Sudasadan' has been seized after a Dhaka court order. In addition, it ordered seizure of properties owned by her family members, who are in exile in India.

Late nuclear scientist and Hasina's late husband MA Wazed Miah, was nicknamed Sudha Miah. The house 'Sudhasadan', was named after him.

The Dhaka court also ordered the seizure of 124 bank accounts belonging to the former PM's family, news agency ANI reported.

The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Ghalib on Tuesday following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The properties that have been seized include those owned by Hasina's son Sajib Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, sister Sheikh Rehana and her daughters - Tulip Siddique and Radwan Mujib Siddique.

Hasina, 77, has been living in India since August 5 last year, after she fled Bangladesh following a massive student-led protest that toppled her Awami League's 16-year regime.

The former PM, the military and police are accused of a violent crackdown on protesters in July and August, which the UN estimates killed as many as 1,400 people in the days before Hasina fled.

Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has even issued arrest warrants for the former PM and several former Cabinet ministers, advisers, and military and civil officials for "crimes against humanity and genocide".

Soon after Hasina quit as Bangladesh PM, Muhammad Yunus assumed office on August 8 and has been serving as the Chief Advisor of the interim government.
