US President Donald Trump's much-touted speech at the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh was riddled with awkward moments, gaffes and unusual exchanges - often overshadowing the geopolitical importance of the gathering that was attended by many global heads of state.

From Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif being put in the dock over ties with India to Trump's near-flirtatious remarks on Italy’s PM Giorgia Meloni - the summit was full of viral moments that became fodder for social media afterwards. Here's a round-up of such moments:

1. Awkward exchange with Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif

During his address, Trump unexpectedly turned to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while praising India, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi “a very good friend” who has “done a fantastic job”. He added that “Pakistan and India are going to live very nicely together”. Sharif, standing behind Trump, gave an uneasy smile as cameras caught the visibly uncomfortable moment. Trump even invited Sharif mid-speech to “say what you said to me the other day,” leading to an impromptu five-minute speech where Sharif awkwardly praised Trump as “a man of peace”.

2. “You will, right?” — tense India-Pak remark

At another point, Trump paused his speech, looked at Sharif, and asked, “You will, right?” referring to India and Pakistan coexisting peacefully. The remark again prompted an awkward laugh from the audience and the Pakistani delegation, leaving Sharif looking awkward.

3. Mix-up with Canada’s leader

During the speech, Trump also mistakenly referred to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney as “President Carney". He later tried to salvage the moment, quipping afterward that it was an “upgrade”. The remark drew laughter from the room but left Carney visibly embarrassed.

4. Flirtatious comment to Italy’s PM Giorgia Meloni

Another viral moment came when Trump called Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni “a beautiful young woman” and “incredible,” before addressing her directly while smiling, leaving Meloni amused but visibly taken aback as other leaders looked on.

5. Hot mic trolling remark

A “hot mic” moment captured Trump joking about ex-Canadian officials just before the main session began, apparently unaware that microphones were live. This invited laughter from nearby leaders including UK PM Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.

6. “Where is the UK?”

In another moment, Trump inadvertently snubbed UK PM Keir Starmer, leaving British netizens irate. Mid-speech, Trump asked “Where is the UK?", prompting Starmer to raise his hand. Trump then gestured for him to approach, making the UK PM think that he will be asked to speak. However, Trump just shook his hand and watched as Starmer returned to his place among the other leaders.
