Netanyahu calls Trump’s Gaza plan ‘revolutionary’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the first time, described U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Gaza’s civilians as “revolutionary.”

Speaking at a press conference in Jerusalem on Wednesday, Netanyahu stated that he would only agree to end the war in Gaza if all Palestinians were expelled from the territory. He emphasized that a ceasefire would come “under clear conditions that will ensure the safety of Israel.”

Netanyahu's conditions to end war

Netanyahu has outlined specific conditions for ending the war in Gaza, according to a report by the Times of Israel. Emphasizing a structured military approach, Netanyahu stated that Israel has a “very organized” plan to fulfill its objectives.

He reiterated the key goals: “To defeat Hamas, which carried out the atrocities of October 7; to bring back all of our hostages; and to ensure that Gaza does not present a threat to Israel.”

Netanyahu also expressed willingness to conclude the war under specific terms. He outlined his expectations, saying, “All the hostages come home, Hamas lays down its arms, steps down from power, its leadership is exiled from the Strip… Gaza is totally disarmed; and we carry out the Trump plan. A plan that is so correct and so revolutionary.”

He also indicated openness to a “temporary ceasefire” if it would lead to the return of more hostages, emphasizing, however, that any such pause would be strictly limited in duration.

Earlier this year, Trump declared that the United States would assume control of Gaza following the removal of all Palestinian residents. Here's a closer look at his proposed relocation plan for the region.

Riviera of the Middle East

Trump said he would acquire Gaza to develop it into “Riviera of the East”. Netanyahu endorsed the plan.

Trump has proposed that the United States take control of the Gaza Strip to lead its reconstruction and redevelopment efforts.

“The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site."

Speaking about the redevelopment plan, Trump said, "Level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings, level it out, create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area, do a real job, do something different.”

Netanyahu dismisses rift with Trump

Netanyahu also stated that Israel plans to maintain full security control over the entire Gaza Strip once the current military operation concludes. He emphasized that by the end of the war, “all the territory of Gaza will be under Israeli security control and Hamas will be totally defeated.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed reports of a growing rift between him and former U.S. President Donald Trump, affirming that ties between the two countries remain strong.

Speaking to the press, Netanyahu said he recently received reassurances from both Trump and U.S. Vice President JD Vance. “A few days ago — I think around 10 days ago, maybe a little more — I spoke on the phone with President Trump. And he said to me, literally: ‘Bibi, I want you to know — I have absolute commitment to you. I have absolute commitment to the State of Israel,’” Netanyahu recalled.

He also referenced a conversation with Vice President Vance: “Just a few days ago, I spoke with Vice President Vance. He said to me… ‘Listen, don’t pay attention to all this fake news about this rupture between us… It’s all spin. This isn’t the truth, you know it’s not true, and I’m telling you, from our side, it’s not true’.”

Netanyahu added, “We’re coordinated with the [Trump] administration. We speak with each other. We respect their interests, and they respect ours — and they overlap... they align almost completely.”

After Netanyahu listed his conditions to end the war, two Israeli embassy staff members were shot dead on Wednesday near the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., although it remains unclear whether the two events are connected.
