Israel on Saturday threatened to strike "every target of the ayatollah regime" in Iran, whose president warned of a severe response if the Israeli attacks continue, fuelling fears of an escalating conflict.

The threats came as the two longtime foes exchanged fire a day after Israel unleashed an unprecedented aerial bombing campaign, which scuppered plans for a new round of Iran-US nuclear talks Sunday.

Putin, Trump discuss Middle East in call: Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the conflict between Israel and Iran, as well as efforts towards a Ukraine settlement in a phone call with US counterpart Donald Trump, the Kremlin said Saturday.

"The dangerous escalation in the Middle East was of course at the centre of the exchange," the Kremlin said, after Israel on Friday bombarded Iran, prompting Iran to launch strikes at Israel in return.

Iran-US mediator Oman says no nuclear talks on Sunday

A sixth round of nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington planned for this weekend has been cancelled, mediator Oman said Saturday, following waves of Israeli attacks on Iran.

"The Iran US-talks scheduled to be held in Muscat this Sunday will not now take place," Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said in a post on X, adding that "diplomacy and dialogue remain the only pathway to lasting peace".

UK moving assets, jets, to Middle East amid Iran crisis

Britain is deploying assets to the Middle East amid tensions between Iran and Israel, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Saturday as he flew to Canada for G7 talks.

"We are moving assets to the region, including jets, and that is for contingency support," Starmer told reporters travelling with him on his plane.

Iran says Israel pushing region into 'dangerous cycle of violence'

Iran accused Israel on Saturday of throwing the Middle East into a "dangerous cycle of violence" as it carried out a second day of air strikes on nuclear and military targets in the Islamic republic.

"This aggression pushes the region into a dangerous cycle of violence," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during a call with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, according to a statement from his ministry. "Iran has responded and will respond in a firm manner to the barbaric actions of the Zionist regime."

Iran FM says Israeli attacks undermine nuclear talks with US

Iran's top diplomat Abbas Araghchi said Saturday that Israel's strikes on his country were undermining nuclear talks with the United States.

Araghchi, in a call with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, said the Israeli attacks since Friday "took place in the midst of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States" and were "a further sign of the (Israeli) regime's inherent hostility to diplomacy", according to a statement from Tehran's foreign ministry.

Netanyahu says Israel will strike 'every target of the ayatollah regime' in Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened on Saturday to strike "every target of the ayatollah regime" in Iran, adding that Israeli strikes had dealt a "real blow" to Tehran's nuclear programme.

"We will hit every site, every target of the ayatollah regime," Netanyahu said in a video statement on the second day of Israel's air campaign targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites.

"We have dealt a real blow to their nuclear programme" since Friday, he added.

Iran says Israel killed 3 more nuclear scientists, total now 9

Israel has killed three more Iranian nuclear scientists, state television reported Saturday, bringing to nine the overall number slain in Israel's attack on the Islamic republic.

"Three of the country's nuclear scientists -- Ali Bekaei Karimi, Mansour Asgari, and Saeed Borji -- were martyred during the Zionist regime's terrorist attacks," the broadcaster said. Iranian media had said earlier that six others were killed in the Israeli attack.

Iran airspace closed 'until further notice

Iran's civil aviation authority has declared the country's airspace closed "until further notice," state media reported Saturday, as Israel and Iran continued to trade fire for a second day.

"No flights will be operated at any airports in the country in order to protect the safety of passengers... until further notice," the official IRNA news agency said.

After a night of escalating tensions in the Middle East, Iran has launched fresh attacks under 'Operation True Promise 3' in retaliation to Israel's 'Operation Rising Lion,' with air raid sirens sounding in northern Israel.

IDF posted on X, "We would rather not be tweeting the same thing many times in a day, but millions of Israelis keep running to shelter as Iran keeps shooting more ballistic missiles at Israel."

Explosions were also reported in Jerusalem as a new series of Iranian missiles targeted Israel.

This is a fresh wave of attack after the Iran launched missile strikes in night as retaliation to Israel's strike on Friday and early Sunday. Sirens and the boom of explosions, possibly from Israeli interceptors, could be heard in the sky over Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
