US President Donald Trump.

Amid mounting concerns over reciprocal tariffs, US President Donald Trump on Friday said that "Our country has been ripped off by everybody and that stops now".

While speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump said, "I had it stopped in my first term and we're going to really stop it now because it has been very unfair. Our country from an economic standpoint, a financial standpoint and a trade standpoint, has been absolutely ripped off by almost every country in the world...India charges us massive tariffs. Massive. You can't even sell anything in India...They have agreed, by the way; they want to cut their tariffs way down now because somebody is finally exposing them for what they have done..."

Trump asserted that India now wants to slash tariffs on American products as the country “stands exposed".

He also pointed out to China and the European Union over high tariffs and said that they have been “terrible abuser" for the United States.

The US President said that his supporters back him on his decision to impose reciprocal tariffs. “There will always be modifications. My supporters feel I am absolutely right on tariffs, and they say I have guts to do so," he said, News18 reported.

This comes as Trump imposed increased tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. Meanwhile, he said on Friday that the US was strongly considering imposing banking sanctions and tariffs and more on Russia until a ceasefire and peace agreement is reached with Ukraine.
