A powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening left at least eight people dead and several others injured, officials said. The blast, which set several vehicles ablaze and sent shockwaves through one of the busiest parts of the capital, has drawn condolences from across the international community.

US expresses condolences, issues security alert
The United States has expressed condolences and said it is closely monitoring the situation following the deadly car blast in Delhi. “We are aware of the explosion near Red Fort in Delhi. We are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to provide consular assistance,” a State Department spokesperson told PTI.
In a post on X, the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs wrote, “Our hearts are with those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
Following the incident, the U.S. issued a security alert for its citizens in India. In an advisory, the State Department’s Consular Affairs division noted that the cause of the explosion remains unknown but said Indian authorities had placed several states on high alert.
The US Embassy in New Delhi urged American citizens to avoid the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk areas, stay away from large gatherings, and remain vigilant in locations frequented by tourists.
Canada mourns victims, offers assistance
The High Commission of Canada in India extended condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. It also advised Canadians requiring emergency consular support to contact Global Affairs Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre.
UK envoy offers sympathies
British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron expressed her condolences, saying, “My thoughts are with all those affected by the explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi today.” She also issued an advisory for residents and visitors in nearby areas to remain cautious.

France stands with India
French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou expressed condolences on behalf of his government and people. “On behalf of the French people and government, I extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wish a full recovery to all those injured,” he said in a post on X.
Argentina
Mariano Caucino, Argentina's Ambassador to India, in a post on X, said, “On behalf of the people and government of Argentina, we convey our condolences to those who lost loved ones as a consequence of the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased, and we wish a complete and swift recovery to all those injured."
Taliban
The Taliban government has issued a statement condemning the recent terrorist attack near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, which claimed several civilian lives.
A spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate said, “I strongly condemn the terrorist attack in New Delhi in which civilians were killed. I express my condolences to the victim families and pray for the earliest recovery of the injured.”
Egypt extends solidarity
The Embassy of Egypt also conveyed condolences, saying, “On behalf of the People and Government of the Arab Republic of #Egypt, we extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected by the #RedFort blast. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved, and we wish all injured a swift and complete recovery.”
Iran mourns the loss of lives
The Embassy of Iran in India expressed sorrow over the tragedy, stating, “The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India expresses its deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries of several Indian citizens in the car blast incident in Delhi, and extends its sincere condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of India.”
The embassy also conveyed “heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims” and wished them “patience and comfort,” along with a speedy recovery for those injured.
Sheikh Hasina condemns the attack
Awami League President and former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina strongly condemned what she described as a “horrific terrorist attack” in New Delhi that claimed the lives of eight innocent people.
Expressing deep sorrow, Hasina extended her condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
