Jeff Bezos once owned a 1997 Honda Accord and famously used reclaimed wooden doors as desks during Amazon's early startup era. Now, his name is used interchangeably with extreme wealth and international power. As of early 2025, his net worth is estimated at $263.8 billion, securing him one of the spots on the wealthiest people on Earth. His enormous wealth drives an empire of investments, luxury holdings, and personal pursuits — from sending rockets into space to hosting multimillion-dollar weddings, the Wall Street Journal reported.

An Amazon-sized fortune

Much of Bezos' wealth remains tied to Amazon, which he founded in 1994. He owns around 8.6% of Amazon, worth some $190.56 billion according to valuations through early June, FactSet says. In 2024, he sold some $13.5 billion of Amazon stock.

Bezos' investment group, Bezos Expeditions, manages his individual investments and has around $107.8 billion in assets, as of the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute. The investments of the company include stocks in major companies like Airbnb, Uber, Perplexity, The Washington Post, and Blue Origin — his own aerospace firm with the mission of making space travel affordable.

Real estate empire

In addition to space and technology, Bezos has also spent billions on real estate. He is currently the 23rd-largest private landowner in the US and has over 420,000 acres across several states, according to The Land Report. Some of the most expensive homes in the US are among his holdings.

In 2020, he purchased the Warner Estate in Beverly Hills for $165 million. In 2019, he had purchased a 14-acre compound on Maui for $78 million. He also made headlines in 2023 and 2024 when he purchased three waterfront mansions on Indian Creek Island in Miami for a total of $234 million. In 2019, he had spent $80 million on three luxury apartments in 212 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

Airborne opulence and oceanic grandeur

Bezos' love for traveling is as expansive as his billionaire wealth. He owns two Gulfstream aircraft: a G650ER worth more than $50 million and a newer G700 worth around $75 million. Two helicopters are included in his private air fleet.

But the crown jewel is his 417-foot-long superyacht, Koru, worth over $500 million. It sails with a $75 million support vessel, the Abeona, with a helipad. The yacht has been spotted sailing off the coast of Italy and normally docks at Florida's Port Everglades.

Personal accomplishments and long-term objectives

Bezos is throwing a lavish wedding to his bride-to-be Lauren Sanchez, with the bash put at anywhere between $15 million and $20 million. It follows a trend of personal investments that are both a reflection of his interests and wealth — whether it's designing reusable rockets or acquiring historic buildings.

From modest start to ruling a billion-dollar empire, Jeff Bezos has not only revolutionized retail but also remade living large in the 21st century.
