US President Donald Trump sparked attention at a Pennsylvania rally after veering away from his economic message to lavish personal praise on White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
While highlighting his administration’s economic achievements, the 79-year-old paused to introduce Leavitt, calling her a “superstar” and repeatedly asking the crowd, “Isn’t she great?” Trump then shifted to comments about the 28-year-old press secretary’s appearance and on-air presence.
“You know, when she goes on television, Fox, like, I mean, they dominate, they dominate… When she gets up there with that beautiful face and those lips that don’t stop-op-op-op, like a little machine gun,” he said, mimicking sound effects.
Trump praised Karoline Leavitt: ‘When she goes on FOX, she dominates her lips go bop bop bop like a little machine gun, and she fears nothing because we have the right policy.’ pic.twitter.com/3rzHAWBAdP— 🇺🇸RA🇺🇸 (@RanaAmjad583030) December 10, 2025
He added that she has “no fear,” attributing it to what he described as the administration’s “right policy,” before contrasting her role with that of the opposing party’s press secretary.
The remarks echoed similar comments Trump made in an August interview, where he said, “It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun,” and claimed, “I don’t think anybody has ever had a better press secretary than Karoline.”
Leavitt previously served as an assistant press secretary in Trump’s first term from 2019 to 2021. After an unsuccessful congressional run, she returned to the White House in January, becoming the youngest press secretary in U.S. history. She is married to real estate developer Nicholas Riccio and has a son, Niko.
