A fire department officer from Pyigyi Tagon, a local township in Mandalay, told Reuters that their efforts are focused on rescuing people trapped in collapsed buildings.
They have discovered at least 20 to 25 bodies in their township, while many injured individuals have been transported to general and township hospitals.
