Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar died after the aircraft he was travelling in crashed-landed at Baramati airport on Tuesday morning, killing all those on board.
The aircraft, a Learjet 45 bearing registration VT-SSK and operated by VSR, was attempting an emergency landing when the crash occurred on January 28.
Five people were on board, including Ajit Pawar, two accompanying staff members, a personal security officer, an attendant, and two crew members, the pilot-in-command and first officer. Officials said there were no survivors.

Pawar, along with Vidip Jadhav, Pinky Mali, Sumit Kapoor, and Sambhavi Pathak, died when a Learjet 45 aircraft crash-landed at Baramati airport on Tuesday morning, officials confirmed. The jet, registered as VT-SSK and operated by VSR, had departed from Mumbai earlier that morning.
According to aviation authorities, the aircraft lost control while attempting to land near the threshold of Runway 11 at around 8:48 AM IST, struck the runway, and caught fire immediately. Emergency response teams were rushed to the site. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, and family members and senior party leaders have been reported heading to Baramati.
The Learjet 45 is a mid-size business jet known for its advanced avionics, strong performance, and relatively spacious cabin, commonly used for charter and official travel.
