At least four people were killed and three others injured in a tourist helicopter crash in Russia's southern Dagestan region, the republic's health minister Yaroslav Glazov said on Friday, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.

Sergei Melikov, head of the Republic of Dagestan, confirmed that there were seven people, including senior staff from Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant in Russia, on board. He said that the three injured were in critical condition and had been taken to a local hospital.

According to a report by The Sun, the helicopter crashed into a house and exploded into a huge fireball leaving four defence plant workers dead.

It smashed into a private house in the village of Achi-Su in southern region of Dagestan with all four people on board β€œburning to death”.

The Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant, a major military manufacturer known for producing ground control and diagnostic systems for Sukhoi and MiG attack aircraft, has been sanctioned by Western nations over its role in supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Russian investigators said they are exploring technical malfunction as the most likely cause of the crash, according to The Sun.
