Dudhwa Festival 2025: UP to Host Cultural and Wildlife Celebration at Dudhwa Tiger Reserve

To promote sustainable tourism and celebrate indigenous heritage, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced the inaugural edition of the Dudhwa Festival, to be held from November 14 to 16, 2025, at the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. This first-of-its-kind residential event will spotlight the rich biodiversity of the Terai region along with the vibrant traditions of the Tharu tribal community.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has endorsed the festival as a celebration of the state’s natural and cultural wealth. “The event will serve as a platform to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s ecological assets and tribal heritage on a global stage,” said Mukesh Meshram, Principal Secretary of Tourism, in a recent statement.

The festival promises a diverse musical experience featuring performances by renowned Indian artists such as Shubha Mudgal, Kailash Kher, and Ram Sampath. Other popular names expected to perform include Kaushiki Chakraborty, Brodha V, Don Bhatt, Rishabh Sharma, Ginni Sujan, and Paresh Pahuja. Genres will span Indian classical, folk, fusion, and contemporary music, ensuring a rich auditory journey for visitors.

Over 2,000 participants are expected to attend the three-day festival. Activities will include wildlife safaris, local cuisine tastings, handicraft showcases, wellness sessions, and interactive exhibitions. Special arrangements like camping zones and homestays with Tharu families will allow tourists to immerse themselves in rural life and understand the ethos of this indigenous community.

“This festival is not just about entertainment—it’s about connecting visitors with the essence of Dudhwa’s ecological and cultural legacy,” added Meshram.

Located in Lakhimpur Kheri district, the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve is one of India's critical wildlife habitats, known for its thriving population of tigers, elephants, and exotic bird species. Through this festival, the state aims to position Dudhwa as not only a premier biodiversity hotspot but also a unique cultural tourism destination.
