Delhi is ready to soar—literally. Starting this Saturday, November 29, 2025, the capital will officially launch its first-ever hot-air balloon rides from Baansera Park along the Yamuna floodplains, giving residents and travellers a whole new way to see the city from above.
After successful trial flights earlier this week, visitors will finally be able to rise 120 feet into the air and enjoy sweeping aerial views of Delhi’s landmarks, riverfront parks, and evolving skyline.
A New Adventure Experience for Delhi
This initiative marks Delhi’s first organised balloon tourism venture. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena confirmed that the rides will be operated by a licensed private company, ensuring aviation-grade safety and a thrilling yet controlled experience.
Saxena shared the news on X, posting images and videos from the successful trial flights, generating significant public excitement ahead of the launch. He personally participated in the trial and confirmed that rides will be available for Delhi residents from Saturday at Baansera.

The project is part of a broader push to activate the Yamuna floodplains with eco-friendly and low-impact recreational activities, aiming to attract more visitors to the redeveloped riverfront.
Why Baansera Park?
The debut site, Baansera Park near Sarai Kale Khan, spans 10 hectares and was developed ahead of the G20 Summit. Known for its bamboo-themed landscaping, it features saplings sourced from regions including Assam and is divided into bamboo recreation and plantation zones.
The scenic setting makes it an ideal backdrop for balloon flights, offering lush greenery and proximity to major city attractions.
What to Expect from the Ride
Altitude: Up to 120 feet.
Duration: 15–20 minutes.
Capacity: Four passengers per ride.
Operation Hours: Initially four hours daily, weather permitting.
The experience will be tethered, meaning the balloon remains securely anchored to the ground while still providing an elevated panoramic view.

Boosting Eco-Tourism in the Capital
The Delhi Development Authority aims to transform the Yamuna floodplains into a vibrant recreational hub. Recent additions include cycling tracks, nature trails, and boating facilities. Hot-air ballooning now adds a high-visibility attraction, encouraging more people to explore Delhi’s green spaces beyond traditional heritage tourism.
A Fresh Way to Experience Delhi
For residents, the hot-air balloon rides offer a unique way to celebrate special occasions, enjoy fun outings with friends or family, and create memorable experiences while seeing the city from a brand-new perspective. For Delhi as a whole, this initiative signals a shift toward valuing leisure and recreational infrastructure alongside heritage preservation and transport development.
A Playful New Skyline
As Delhi prepares for take-off this weekend, anticipation is soaring. The addition of hot-air ballooning brings a sense of adventure to the winter calendar already filled with food festivals, heritage walks, and outdoor events.
Delhi’s skyline is about to look a little more playful—and for a few magical minutes, a little more enchanting.
