In a landmark move to make public transport safer and more accessible, the Delhi government introduced the Pink Saheli Smart Card on November 2, 2025. The initiative offers free bus rides for women, girls, and transgender individuals aged 12 and above across Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses.
The Pink Saheli Smart Card is designed not only to provide complimentary travel but also to promote financial ease, inclusivity, and sustainable mobility. While it allows free rides on DTC and cluster buses, commuters can also top up or recharge the card for use across other transit systems in the national capital.
Announcing the initiative on X (formerly Twitter), Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “This initiative is a significant step towards making travel easier for women in Delhi, promoting the use of public transport, and providing more facilities and respect to women’s power.”

The scheme is part of the government’s broader effort to empower women through mobility, reduce commuting expenses, and encourage public transport over private vehicles, easing congestion and pollution in the city.
With its personalised, digital smart card system, the Delhi government ensures that benefits are extended securely and exclusively to bona fide residents, strengthening both safety and accountability.
