Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has reached a new milestone with the opening of a 3.5 km stretch. This is part of a larger 31.6 km project aimed at significantly cutting travel time between the two cities. The entire 212 km long expressway, which features six lanes, has been built at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore, as per the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Once completed, it will reduce the travel time from 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours.

The expressway is being developed in four phases and will connect Dehradun in Uttarakhand to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. It passes through key locations such as Akshardham in Delhi, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and the EPE interchange at Khekra in Mandola, Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

It will also feature modern facilities, including rest areas every 25-30 km, multiple lanes (ranging from six to twelve), and advanced safety measures. Additionally, the expressway will have over 110 underpasses, five rail overbridges, and four major bridges. There will be 16 designated entry and exit points for better connectivity. The speed limit has been set at 100 km/h, ensuring a safer and quicker journey.
