Zoom Communications has ramped up its India presence with the launch of its AI-powered Zoom Contact Center and a wider rollout of Zoom Phone across six telecom circles in the country with a plan to go pan-India soon.

Zoom has expanded Zoom Phone to four additional metro telecom circles — Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Karnataka (Bengaluru), and Andhra Pradesh & Telangana (Hyderabad). With earlier rollouts in Maharashtra (October 2024) and Tamil Nadu (Chennai) (February 2025), Zoom Phone now covers six major telecom circles, giving the company access to India’s key business hubs.

The company has also introduced Zoom Contact Center in India, bringing its cloud-based, AI-first contact-center-as-a-service (CCaaS) platform to local enterprises and multinational corporations. The omnichannel solution supports voice, video, virtual agents, social media, email, and messaging apps, allowing businesses to unify customer and employee engagement on a single platform. With Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC) capabilities, companies can retain existing PSTN providers while migrating contact center operations to the cloud.

“India is a critical market for us, and our latest offering brings the power of unified collaboration and contact center capabilities onto one platform,” said Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom. The service will leverage Zoom’s India data centers to meet compliance and regulatory needs across industries like government, healthcare, and financial services.

Licensed by India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Zoom Phone offers enterprises PSTN-based calling, replacing legacy PBX systems with modern cloud telephony integrated into Zoom Workplace. The service also integrates tightly with Zoom Contact Center for advanced features such as intelligent routing, call transfer, and real-time analytics.

“Zoom Phone addresses the growing demand for cloud telephony by offering simplicity and modern functionality for distributed workforces,” said Sankarlingam.

The company said both Zoom Phone and Zoom Contact Center are fully compliant with India’s new Telecom Act, with all call records and data stored locally in Indian data centers. To support its growing user base, Zoom has recently expanded its data center infrastructure, adding six new facilities and bringing its total count to eight. In addition to its existing data centers in Mumbai and Hyderabad, the company has added new centers in Maharashtra, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi.

In India, Zoom competes with cloud communication providers like Exotel, Ozonetel, Knowlarity, Twilio, as well as enterprise collaboration platforms such as Cisco WebEx and Microsoft Teams.
The company also allows businesses to acquire local phone numbers via its web portal to establish a presence in multiple regions, even where full service is not yet live.
The twin launches reflect Zoom’s broader strategy to tap into India’s rapidly evolving enterprise communications market as companies move toward AI-powered, flexible, and compliant collaboration solutions.
