X, formerly known as Twitter, is facing a global outage for the second time this week. According to data from Downdetector, thousands of users have reported disruptions while using the platform, affecting both mobile apps and desktop versions.
According to outage tracking site Downdetector, reports of problems with X surged sharply on July 2, 2025, at 7:14 PM IST. A total of 5,546 user reports were logged, a dramatic increase compared to the usual baseline of just 14. This spike confirms a major service disruption affecting the app, website, and server connectivity.
Key problems faced by usersBased on user reports, the majority of complaints (55%) are linked to the X mobile app, followed by website issues (40%). A smaller portion of users (5%) have reported server connection errors, which could be affecting tweet uploads, logins, and real-time feed loading.
Many users across platforms like Android, iOS, and desktop browsers are experiencing unresponsive timelines, broken media loading, and delayed notifications. Some users have also reported that they are unable to post tweets or refresh their feed. The issue appears to be affecting users in multiple countries simultaneously, according to Downdetector’s global heat map.
No official response yetAs of now, X has not issued a formal statement acknowledging the outage. The company’s official status page also hasn’t been updated with any explanation or estimated recovery time. The lack of communication has only added to user frustration, especially given this is the second outage in just a few days.
