WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging platforms on the market, as it is used by most smartphone users for sending simple messages, making calls, updating status, and also to join various communities. Now, in an attempt to further refine the application and make it easier for users to reply to messages, WhatsApp seems to be testing iMessage and Slack-like threaded replies functionality that would put all replies to the same message in one thread.
Message threads: How will it work
According to a new report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will group replies to specific messages into a thread, making it easier to keep track of individual conversations. This will help users to see a dedicated view showing every quoted message connecting back to the original message that started the thread, helping them to find specific responses amongst all the replies in the conversation.
Further, the report adds that message threads are expected to be available for individual conversations, communities, channels, and group chats. A screenshot of the preview that WABetaInfo posted also gives a preview of the functionality of the threaded message, showing a full-screen pop-up with all the replies that have been sent by several users in a group discussion.
Currently, this feature has been spotted in action in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.7.7 for limited users. However, as of now, there is no confirmation when the message threads feature will be generally available for all WhatsApp users.
