WhatsApp will soon let users set reminders and events in personal chats

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that lets you create and manage events directly in private chats.

WhatsApp keeps testing features to make the user experience better. One such feature it is currently working on lets users create and manage events right inside their personal chats. Until now, users could only set up events in group chats or community groups, but WhatsApp is now making it easier for one-on-one planning, according to a report by Wabetainfo.

Imagine you are talking to a friend about meeting up, and instead of scrolling through messages later to find the details, you can simply create an event right in the chat. It works for work meetings too—say you and a colleague are discussing a deadline, you can set up an event, and both of you will get a reminder. Even things like doctor appointments or payment due dates can be scheduled directly in your chat, making life just a little easier.

This feature lets you add important details like location if it’s an in-person meet-up or even link it to a WhatsApp audio or video call if it's an online event. Everything stays in the chat, so you don’t have to dig through messages to find it later. The other person can also accept or decline the event, making sure everyone's on the same page.

It’s also handy for working professionals. Freelancers can set up project deadlines with clients, parents and teachers can arrange meetings, and so much more—all without needing a separate calendar app.

Right now, this feature is available to some beta testers who have the latest WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. But don’t worry if you don’t see it yet—WhatsApp is rolling it out to more users over the coming weeks.
