WhatsApp is soon going to replace all the green checkmarks (ticks) for its business accounts and channels with blue ones to maintain a consistent verification identity across all Meta platforms. The blue checkmark aims to improve user trust by guaranteeing authenticity. It helps users distinguish between real businesses and potential impersonators, promoting secure interactions with verified accounts.
This change was first spotted by WABetainfo on the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.16.10.72 version and this update replaces the old green badge. Considering Meta already has a blue checkmark to indicate verification on its other platforms like Instagram, Threads, and Facebook, it only makes sense that Meta has applied this change on WhatsApp as well.
The feature is available to some users who install the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app for now, and a wider rollout is expected to happen within the coming few weeks. It also falls in line with the Meta Verified feature, which was introduced by Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg about two months ago for selected businesses.
Recently, Meta also introduced Meta AI for WhatsApp, which will help users with everyday tasks, or performing creative work. It was initially launched last year at Meta Connect and it is powered by the latest Llama 3 AI model. Meta AI is now available for Indian WhatsApp users, after being rolled out for other global users in April.
