Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to share upto one-minute-long voice notes as status updates. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is currently rolling out to all WhatsApp iOS and Android users and it’s an upgrade over the previous limit of 30 seconds of voice messages in the status bar.
The Meta-owned instant messaging platform recently introduced many new features, such as generating AI-based profile pictures, introducing a call bar at the top of the screen, a new channels analytics section, and many more.
WhatsApp’s one-minute status update: How to use it
The longer voice notes via Status updates is now available on Android and iOS versions of the app. If it’s still not accessible on your smartphone, you need to update the app to access it. Follow the steps below to know how to use this feature.
Open WhatsApp on your device, and then swipe right or tap on the Updates tab.
Now, at the bottom section, tap on the pen section. This will open the new status page.
Next, hold the microphone icon at the bottom right and record you’re voice status update.
After your recording is complete, you can choose the palette icon at the top to change the background colour.
At last tap on the send button at the bottom. Now your voice status update will be visible to all your contacts or the custom list of your choice.
WhatsApp usually rolls out updates in a gradual manner, so if you haven't received this feature on your device, it may take up to one or two days to receive this update on your phone.
