A smarter way to manage chat storage
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will let you check how much space each chat or group is using. So instead of hunting through long menus in Settings, you’ll be able to see storage details right inside a chat’s info section. It’s simple, quick, and far more convenient.

. What this new feature actually does
The upcoming “Manage Storage” option will show you exactly how much space a chat’s media — photos, videos, and documents — takes up. You can also sort files by size to spot large ones quickly. Basically, it’s like having a mini storage cleaner built right into your chat window.

How it’s different from what you already have
Until now, WhatsApp’s storage manager could only be accessed through Settings → Storage and Data. Plus, the “Media, Links, and Docs” tab didn’t show how much space each file consumed. This new version fixes that — you’ll be able to delete unwanted files right from the chat itself.

Why it actually matters
We all have that one group that floods our phone with photos, festival videos, or memes. This feature will make it easy to clear those without losing important chats. It’s especially useful for office groups or community chats where media piles up fast. Storage cleanup just got smarter.

When you’ll get to use it
The feature is still being tested in WhatsApp’s beta version for Android users. However, reports suggest it’ll expand to more users soon, and eventually to iOS. Once it rolls out widely, managing WhatsApp storage will be faster, simpler, and something you can do in seconds.
